This rare combination of hands-on operational expertise and formal AI research forms the foundation on which Acertain is built.
Holding a PhD in Artificial Intelligence, an MSc in Mechatronics, and a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Ehsan founded Acertain with a clear conviction: the industries in which he spent decades working are plagued by solvable inefficiencies—and the tools to address them now exist. Acertain is the vehicle through which he builds those solutions.
At IVECO Australia, Ehsan has applied this philosophy directly—developing and deploying a range of AI-driven and automation-based systems within a live enterprise environment. These include automated CPI review and application workflows, intelligent quotation and contract preparation pipelines, Power BI–based operational reporting dashboards, and an AI-driven cost control system that delivers real-time visibility and precision in financial decision-making. These are not theoretical initiatives—they are production-grade systems operating within one of Australia’s leading commercial vehicle organisations.
Beyond automotive, Ehsan has delivered AI and automation solutions for the healthcare sector — where precision and compliance are non-negotiable. This includes a secure browser extension aggregator built for medical clinic staff, eliminating duplicate logins and manual cross-portal data entry in compliance-critical environments, and an AI-powered phone receptionist deployed for medical clinics to handle high call volumes, book appointments in real time, and provide 24/7 front-desk coverage — without adding headcount.
Tom Barkay brings more than two decades of hands-on experience across the automotive, dealership, technical, training, warranty, management, and business environments to Acertain.
His career began as an automotive technician, giving him a strong practical understanding of how businesses operate from the ground up. He then progressed through roles including Service Adviser, Assistant Manager, Department Manager, Trainer, and Business Owner, gaining experience across both the operational and commercial sides of business.
Throughout his career, Tom has supported more than 80 dealerships across Australia and New Zealand, working with brands including Audi, Mazda, Volkswagen, Polaris, and Indian Motorcycles. He has built and developed departments, trained technicians and apprentices, improved workshop processes, supported warranty and compliance programs, and helped businesses achieve stronger operational performance.
Tom has also owned and operated his own franchise and run his own business, giving him first-hand experience in the realities of business ownership — from managing people and customers to controlling performance, meeting targets, solving problems, and delivering results.
A key strength throughout Tom’s career has been his ability to build high-performing teams and consistently exceed KPIs. As a trainer, he has developed a strong understanding of how to communicate with different people, gain their attention, simplify complex information, and turn knowledge into practical action.
